MOSCOW

* The Grand Kremlin palace will host a session of the State Council on the issue "On streamlining the interaction between federal and regional bodies of state power in the Russian Federation."

* The State Duma will host:

- parliamentary hearings "On the prospects of ratification of the Agreement On the Adjustment of the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty";

- a concert of the Viktoria children's choir of the Balakirev arts school dedicated to the International Children's Day.

* The Central House of Journalists will host a press conference of the head of the State Duma committee on legislation, Pavel Krasheninnikov "New things in the anti-extremist legislation."

* Ingush President Murat Zyazikov will hold a press conference "Antiterrorist operation in Ingushetia. Reasons for activation of extremists. Investigation of the latest terrorist acts."

* The President Hotel will host a presentation of the Institute of Legal Safeguard of Property and Entrepreneurship. The Institute was founded by the Russian national committee of the International Chamber of Commerce - the World Business Organization.

* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host press conferences:

- with the management of ROMIR Monitoring, a research holding, dedicated to the publication of a regular issue of the annual magazine "Russia's Public Opinion. 2003."

- dedicated to the coming participation of the YUKOS-Freisinger team in the 24-hour race in Le Mans (France) on June 12-13.

* The Gostiny Dvor exhibition complex will host the opening of the sixth International congress and technical exhibition "Water: ecology and technologies" (AQUATECH-2004) (June 1-4). Under the aegis of the WHO a conference "Stable water industry and health" will be held.

* The Moscow researchinstitute of children's oncology and hematology of the Russian Blokhin Oncological Scientific Center will host the opening of the 3rd congress of Russia's children's oncologists.

* Patriarch Alexis of Moscow and All Russia will visit the Bakulev Scientific Center of Cardiovascular Surgery, and will meet with the management of the center and children's surgery department patients.

* On the International Children's Day, in the framework of the action "Future Without AIDS", a press conference will take place: "The situation with the HIV-infected children in Russia in the context of the general situation of HIV-infection spreading in Russia and the world."

* The Central House of Litterateurs will host the 12th annual ceremony of awarding the Sakharov prize "For Civil Courage of a Writer" founded by the Association of Independent Writers "Aprel". Poetess Yunna Moritz won the prize this year.

* The Izvestia media center will host a press conference:

- "The Russian representation of the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF, Great Britain) is announcing the beginning of the program 'Lifeline'." The aim of the program is to finance the treatment of children who have illnesses hazardous for life and who need high-tech treatment.

ST PETERSBURG

* German Defense Minister Peter Struck will arrive in Russia on a two-day visit. His program of stay envisages a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Ivanov.

* The 23rd plenary session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) will start (June 1-3). The PABSEC comprises Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine. It is planned to discuss the issue of the role of the PABSEC and national parliaments in the development of interregional cooperation of the Black Sea countries.

DERBENT, DAGESTAN

* A three-day International conference "The women of the Caucasus for establishment of the values of peace, tolerance and non-violence" will open. Delegations from the national commissions and representations of UNESCO in Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and well as women's organizations of Dagestan, Chechnya, other constituent members making part of the Southern federal district of the Russian Federation will take part in it.

SOCHI

* The 15th Russian and 11th International festival "Kinotavr" (June 1-15) will start.

BAKU

* An eleventh exhibition and conference "Kaspiy-neftegaz-2004" getting together 338 companies from 27 countries including Russia will open.

YEREVAN

* The regular session of the Council of CIS Commerce and Industry Chambers will open (June 1-3).

HELSINKI

* The Russian president's envoy in the Northwestern federal district, Ilya Klebanov will arrive in Helsinki on a three-day official visit.

PARIS

* The exhibition hall of the Arc de Triomphe will open an exposition "Common Victory" dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the allied troops' landing in Normandy. The exhibition has been prepared by RIA Novosti and the Central Museum of Russia's Armed Forces.

BRATISLAVA

* A plenary session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will be held. 352 MPs from 26 member countries and 13 partner states, including Russia, as well as representatives of 8 observer countries will take part in the session.

ROME

* The presentation of the Russian "Orthodox Encyclopedia" with the participation of the church-scientific center of the same name, the ROC's Academic Committee, the Council "Religion's Role in History" under the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow Kremlin Museums etc. will take place.
