VLADIKAVKAZ, Nov 16 (RIA Novosti) - A special parliamentary commission on investigation into the reasons and circumstances of the Beslan terrorist act cannot name the exact number of militants who seized the school in that North Ossetian city on September 1 yet, commission chairman Alexander Torshin said Tuesday.

In his words, the commission has no information that some of the militants managed to escape. At the same time, Mr. Torshin said commission members would recommend prosecutor's office staffers to avoid naming final figures.

"What will we look like if a 33rd terrorist sends us a 'greeting' from Turkey?" said the senator.

By the data of law enforcement bodies, 32 militants took part in the school seizure. 30 were killed, one captured, another one's body fragments were found in the Beslan school.

The Beslan terrorist act became possible because proper security measures had not been taken after June 22 militants' attack Nazran town in Ingushetia (a republic in the North Caucasus neighboring on Chechnya), believes Mr. Torshin.

"Should the necessary measures have been taken then, the attack would have been different, or the scale would have been different," Mr. Torshin told journalists.

In his words, part of the commission members will head for Ingushetia before the end of this week.

"We will look for the location of the militants' base, and will ask the Ingush law enforcers about what they have done after the June attack on Nazran," Mr. Torshin stressed.
