VLADIVOSTOK, July 7 (RIA Novosti) - A court in Russia's Far East has sentenced two Chinese nationals to nine months in jail for illegally crossing into Russia to hunt frogs.
The men illegally crossed the Russian border on April 10 and installed special traps for hunting frogs in the country's Jewish Autonomous Region.
The Chinese frog-hunters made off with 10 frogs and decided to repeat the expedition later in the month. However, they were detained by Russian border guards on April 14.
In China, frogs are an important source of income as their fat is used to prepare anti-ageing products.
