Russia wants to continue an open discussion of key Arctic problems, including nature protection and climate change, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Saturday.

"Therefore we have decided to hold Arctic forums annually," Putin said at the 14th congress of the Russian Geographic Society.

The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue international forum, which was held in Moscow on September 22-23, gathered delegates from 16 countries.

Famous polar explorer and State Duma Artur Chilingarov proposed holding the next forum in Arkhangelsk, located in the northern part of European Russia and known as the birthplace of great Russian 18th century scientist Mikhail Lomonosov.

Putin also said he had established a special organization which will handle the development of the new Russian Arctic national park.
