HEINEKEN BUYS RUSSIAN BREWERY

MOSCOW, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - Dutch brewery Heineken has bought the Patra brewery in Yekaterinburg (Ural) outright, a Heineken press release reads.

Both parties agreed not to disclose how much the deal is worth.

The press release says the deal will lead to higher profits in 2005 and increase the value of the company by 2010. As a result of the deal, Heineken's share of the Russian beer market will grow to 8.3%, more than seven million hectoliters (184 million gallons).

Heineken estimates the Russian beer market will grow by 5.5% in 2005 to reach a total volume of more than 89 million hectoliters.

Heineken brews and sells a variety of international, national, and regional brands of beer in Russia.

Today the Patra brewery, which was founded in 1983, is the largest producer of beer and non-alcoholic beverages in the Urals region, including twenty leading beer and non-alcoholic beverage producers.

Patra's main shareholder was Alfa Eco. Patra's charter capital is 43,667 rubles ($1=27.77 rubles) and is divided into 43,667 shares of one ruble each.
