Russia ends WTO talks with Bolivia, Ecuador, Pakistan
GENEVA, June 29 (RIA Novosti, Yekaterina Andrianova) - Russia has completed bilateral talks on its accession to WTO with Bolivia, Ecuador and Pakistan, a Russian official said Wednesday. Head of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry's department for Trade Negotiations Maxim Medvedkov said relevant protocols would be signed soon.
Russia has already completed bilateral talks with 33 WTO member states, which account for more than 87% of Russia's foreign trade. Bilateral protocols were signed with Norway and Mexico in Geneva last week.
A regular round of the talks on Russia's accession will close in Geneva Wednesday. By the end of this round, the Russian delegation will have held talks with 15 countries on access to commodity markets, including Canada, Australia and Panama, and with 10 countries on the access to services markets, including Switzerland, Japan and the United States, Medvedkov said.
The number of unresolved problems with the U.S. is slowly being reduced, he said.
"The remaining problems are agricultural goods, aircraft equipment, financial services, intellectual property, law enforcement, the work of state-run trade companies, etc.," Medvedkov said.
Eight out of 45 new sections of the draft report issued by the working party on Russia's accession to the WTO were considered at the last session of the party, he said.
The next session could be held in October.
