Vietnam Airlines won't spoil relations between Russian and Vietnamese air services

HANOI, July 14 (RIA Novosti, Thu Hyong) - Vietnam Airlines, whose aircraft reportedly violated Russian airspace Tuesday, does not intend to take any measures that may mar the traditionally good relations between the countries' air services.

On July 12, a Boeing-777 was en route from Hanoi to Moscow's Domodedovo airport, when it crossed the Russian border without permission from the Russian Air Forces and Air Defense Forces.

The airline said it had met all the requirements and that the incident had been due to a lack of coordination between Russian civilian and military air services.

The company said in a press release Thursday that Russia's premature announcement of the incident had undermined Vietnam Airlines' reputation.

The Russian Ministry of Transport said earlier that it was the third time a Vietnamese passenger airliner had violated Russian airspace since June 26.

"There were two similar incidents with Vietnam Airlines' planes in the Russian sky before (June 26 and July 4), and in both cases civilian and military traffic controllers managed to resolve the problem," the ministry said.
