National carrier Aeroflot says net profits down 4.7% in 2005

MOSCOW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - Aeroflot (RTS: AFLT) said Friday its net profits for 2005 slipped by 4.7% year on year to 6.032 billion rubles ($220.45 million).

Russia's largest commercial aircraft carrier said in a news release that gross profits were 9.111 billion rubles ($333 million), a 7.8% drop on the previous year.

Aeroflot's revenue from core business operations stand at 62.849 billion rubles ($2.3 billion), a 11.5% increase from the previous year, while net profit from core business operations dropped by 23.8% to 3.291 billion rubles ($120.3 million), the company said.

Aeroflot said its net profit in 1Q06 had dropped more than 50% year on year, from 875 million rubles ($31.98 million) to 399 million rubles ($14.6 million).

Aeroflot carried 6.7 million passengers in 2005, 2.3% less than in 2004. Cargo transportation in 2005 slipped by 0.8% year on year to 145,600 tons, the company said.
