MOSCOW, May 16 (RIA Novosti) - MegaFon (RTS: MEGF) net profits in January-March 2006 doubled year on year, to 1.92 billion rubles (about $70 mln), the cellphone operator said in a press release Tuesday.
Revenues for Russia's third-largest cellphone operator in the reporting period were 7.11 bln rubles (about $263 mln), 40% up on the first quarter of 2005.
The company's gross profits grew 41.7%, to 3.73 bln rubles (about $138 mln).
Sales profits were at 2.18 bln rubles (about $80.7 mln), up 45.1% year on year. Pre-tax profits almost doubled, to 2.57 bln rubles (about $95.03 mln).
