Russia's foreign trade surplus up 40.2% in Jan-Apr 2006 - CBR

MOSCOW, June 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's foreign trade surplus grew by 40.2% in January-April 2006 year-on-year and stood at $48.7 billion, the Central Bank said Friday.

Russia's foreign trade stood at $134.8 billion in the first four months of 2006 (up 27.8% year on year). Exports reached $91.7 billion (up 30.9%) and imports were $43 billion (up 21.8%).

In April 2006, foreign trade surplus increased by 26.3% year-on-year and totaled $12.9 billion.

Russia's foreign trade stood at $35.6 billion (up 20.4% year-on-year) in April 2006, while exports totaled $24.2 billion (up 22%) and imports $11.3 billion (up 17.4%).

The share of the CIS countries in Russia's exports in April was $3 billion (up 13.8%) and in imports - $1.8 billion (down 1.7%).
