MOSCOW, August 3 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) are planning to hold the fifth meeting of a coordination committee in China in the fourth quarter of 2006, the Russian energy giant said Thursday.

In March 2006, Gazprom and CNPC signed a protocol on gas supplies from Russia to China. The protocol covers the timeframe, volume and routes of gas supplies and the gas price formula.

The fourth session was held on July 31-August 1 in St. Petersburg.

Gazprom and CNPC are in talks on constructing two gas pipelines from western and eastern Siberia to energy-hungry China to deliver 30-40 billion cubic meters of natural gas each year starting in 2011.

China is seeking to double the share of natural gas in its total primary energy balance to 6% by 2010.
