MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - A federal arbitration court rejected Wednesday an appeal by Russia's tax authorities to charge extra 165 million rubles (about $6.1 million) from Samaraneftegaz, a subsidiary of Yukos [RTS: YUKO].

The Moscow District Federal Arbitration Court upheld a ruling by the Moscow Arbitration Court February 26 to invalidate an extra tax bill for January 2005 brought against Samaraneftegaz. The tax authorities presented the bill July 18, 2005.

Yukos, once Russia's most powerful oil company, was declared bankrupt August 1 after three years of litigation with tax authorities over the company's tax arrears.

The tax authorities earlier charged extra 8.9 billion rubles (about $329 million) from Samaraneftegaz for 2001, 8.7 billion rubles (about $322 million) for 2002 and 7 billion rubles (about $259 million) for 2003.
