ST. PETERSBURG, September 12 (RIA Novosti) - Sevmash shipyard is planning to build facilities for a Gazprom liquefied natural gas plant in West Siberia, the company press service said Tuesday.

Russia's energy giant will build the plant in the northwestern part of the Yamal Peninsula in West Siberia, on the shore of the Kara Sea, near the Kharasavei gas field. The field has proven reserves of 38 billion cubic meters of gas.

"The project to manufacture modules for a plant that Gazprom is planning to build on Yamal is highly promising for Sevmash," the press service said.

It said Sevmash has been in negotiations with Sevmorneftegaz oil and gas company (100%-owned by Gazprom), which commissioned the project, and Norway's AKER, the company designing the plant.
