Russian monetary base up $3.4 bln in week

MOSCOW, December 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Central Bank said Friday that the country's narrowly defined money supply (M1) was 3,200 billion rubles ($121.3 billion at the current exchange rate) as of December 25, up 89.7 billion rubles ($3.4 billion) in the week since December 18.

According to the Bank, M1 money supply consists of the currency issued by the bank, including cash in vaults of credit institutions, and required reserves balances on ruble deposits with the Central Bank.
