MOSCOW, January 29 (RIA Novosti) - Consolidated oil production of Gazprom Neft [RTS: SIBN] in 2006 slipped 1.7% year-on-year to 44.4 million metric tons (894,000 bbl/d), the subsidiary of Russian energy giant Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] said Monday.
Gazprom Neft's own production in 2006 declined 1% to 32.7 million tons (658,000 bbl/d).
Gazprom bought a controlling stake in Sibneft in September 2005 from tycoon Roman Abramovich, and subsequently renamed it Gazprom Neft.
The oil producer said further integration in the business of its main shareholder, Gazprom, will provide access to additional resources and create a basis for production growth.
