Russia's Sberbank net profit $3.36 bln in 2006

MOSCOW, January 29 (RIA Novosti) - Sberbank's [RTS: SBER] net profit rose 41.9% in 2006, year-on-year, to 89.3 billion rubles ($3.36 billion), the state-run retail savings bank said Monday.

The bank's pre-tax profit was 112.8 billion rubles ($4.24 billion) in 2006, year-on-year, up 26.7%.

Sberbank's credit portfolio totaled 2.7 trillion rubles ($101 billion).

Sberbank is Russia's largest bank, with 60.57% of its shares controlled by the Central Bank. Sberbank's branch network includes 17 regional banks, 840 branches and 19,198 divisions.
