Sberbank net profit rises 1.7% in Jan. to $452.5 mln

MOSCOW, February 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russian state-controlled retail savings bank Sberbank [RTS: SBER] said Wednesday its net profit increased 1.7%, year-on-year, in January 2007 to 11.9 billion rubles (about $452.5 million).

Sberbank's credit portfolio totaled 2.72 trillion rubles (about $103.2 billion) as of February 1, the bank said.

Sberbank is Russia's largest bank, with 60.57% of its shares controlled by the Central Bank. Sberbank's branch network includes 17 regional banks and 832 branches.
