CenterTelecom posts 200% RAS net income rise in 2006

MOSCOW, April 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's inter-regional telecoms provider CenterTelecom [RTS: ESMO] said Thursday its net income calculated to Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) increased more than 200%, year-on-year, in 2006 to 2.05 billion rubles (about $78.7 million).

The fixed-line operator, which provides services in central Russia covering more than 20% of Russia's population, said its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew 36.14% in the reporting period to 9.78 billion rubles (about $376 million).

CenterTelecom, which is part of Svyazinvest state telecoms holding, had charter capital of 6.31 billion rubles (about $234 million) as of July 1, 2006. The company's shares are listed on the Russian Trading System stock exchange and the Moscow Inter-Bank Currency Exchange, and its Level-1 American Depositary Receipts circulate on the U.S. over-the-counter market and the Berlin and Frankfurt stock exchanges.
