MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom's [RTS: GAZP] net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards declined 22% year-on-year to 138.7 billion rubles ($5.3 billion) in the first half of this year, the Russian energy giant said Wednesday.
In April-June, net profit increased 13.51% to 73.7 billion rubles ($2.8 billion), as compared to the first three months.
The company said the second quarter hike in net profit was due to operations by its affiliated companies, namely dividends from oil-producing asset Gazprom Neft, which compensated for a dip in gross profit following a decline in sales over seasonal peculiarities.
