Russia's trade surplus drops 16.7% in 1H07 to $61.7 billion

MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's trade surplus dropped 16.7% in January-June 2007 to 61.7 billion, year-on-year, Russia's statistics service said Monday.

Foreign trade turnover increased 18.3%, to $252.8 billion in the reporting period, the Central Bank said.

Rosstat said exports in the first half of the year stood at $157.2 billion, up 9.3% as of the same period last year, and imports rose 36.8% to $95.5 billion.
