MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Payments to creditors of Russian bankrupt oil company Yukos have been completed, with claims for 76 billion rubles ($3 billion) outstanding, bankruptcy receiver Eduard Rebgun said on Friday.
"The federal budget has received from the Yukos oil company 995 billion rubles ($40 billion) in taxes, including 579 billion rubles ($23 billion) as part of bankruptcy proceedings," Rebgun said.
The official said he was preparing liquidation papers and a court application to end bankruptcy proceedings.
Rebgun said commercial creditors, including Deutsche Bank AG, Banque Societe Generale Vostok and Mazeikiu Nafta, received 872 billion rubles ($35 billion).
The Moscow Arbitration Court ruled on August 8 to extend Yukos bankruptcy proceedings for three months to November 4.
Yukos, once Russia's largest oil company, was declared bankrupt on August 1, 2006, after three years of litigation with tax authorities over arrears. Its founder, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, is serving an eight-year prison sentence in Siberia for fraud and tax evasion.
The liquidation of Yukos is widely seen as part of the Kremlin's drive to regain control over the country's oil and gas sector.
