LYONS, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - France's CNR, part of the Gaz de France-Suez, natural gas distributor, is holding talks with Russian energy giant Gazprom on energy exchange operations in Western Europe, the CNR energy director said Thursday.

"Talks are being held with Gazprom on the joint use of power lines, selling and buying electric energy," Christian Triol said.

Triol said Gazprom's arm Gazprom Marketing and Trading actively deals with electric power in Western Europe. He said agreements on mutual guarantees for energy sales need to be reached.

"If we agree on what kind of guarantees we should have, operations could start in a month," Triol said.
