KIEV, January 11 (RIA Novosti) - Moldova has started receiving gas from Ukraine's own reserves, Ukraine's UNIAN news agency quoted Moldovan authorities as saying on Sunday.

Speaking at a meeting of the Moldovan national emergency situations commission, Igor Dodon, the first deputy prime minister and minister of economy and trade, reported stable deliveries of natural gas to Moldovan consumers, UNIAN said.

According to Dodon, the deliveries helped increase pressure in the pipeline servicing the western region of Ungheni, severely hit by this week's gas crisis.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko promised on Saturday to start providing 2 million cubic meters of natural gas daily to Bulgaria and Moldova from its own reserves on January 10.

The decision was made amid an energy crisis that erupted after Russia halted natural gas deliveries to Europe through Ukraine this week and accused Kiev of siphoning off transit gas. Ukraine has denied the claims.

Russia cut gas deliveries to Ukraine after the neighbors failed to agree on New Year's Eve on how to settle Kiev's gas debts or on a contract for 2009 deliveries.
