Russia's broadly defined monetary base expanded 1.5% to 4.922 trillion rubles ($156.25 bln) in the month
© Ruslan KrivobokMOSCOW, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's broadly defined monetary base expanded 1.5% to 4.922 trillion rubles ($156.25 bln) in the month up to September 1, the Central Bank reported on Wednesday.
In July, the broad monetary base declined 2.4% to 4.851 trillion rubles ($154 billion) as the Central Bank sold about $4 billion in foreign currency. Broad money supply has declined 11.8% since January.
According to Central Bank terminology, broad money supply consists of cash in circulation, credit institutions' correspondent accounts with the Central Bank, required reserves, bank deposits in the Central Bank, and the Bank's bonds held by credit institutions, and also the Central Bank's obligations to buy back securities and required reserves on foreign exchange operations deposited with the Central Bank.
