Metallurgy, chemistry, wood industry and science intensive production are the spheres where Russian-U.S. economic cooperation can be the most effective, said a Russian deputy industry minister.
"The traditional sphere of cooperation is metallurgy, as well as chemistry, in particular, plastics, mineral fertilizers, titanium deliveries. Actually, Americans are interested in everything," Ivan Matyorov said. "All these should be developed."
A Russian national exhibition organized by Russia's Industry and Trade Ministry opened in Chicago on Wednesday. It is the first, in many years, presentation in the United States of Russian innovation projects, companies and ministries.
"Cooperation in wood industry should also be developed to launch joint enterprises and developments," Matyorov said, adding that Americans are ready for cooperation, but have little information on Russia's opportunities.
"A lot of foreign investment is made in America, and they are glad to get any — be it Japanese, German or Russian if it has any use. But in many respects our relations are restricted by a lack of knowledge of what opportunities [Russian] industry has. This exhibition should show the Americans our potential," he said.
