Russian mobile operator MegaFon posts 7.9% net profit drop in Q3

MegaFon, Russia's third largest mobile operator, said on Monday its U.S. GAAP net profit shrank 7.9% year-on-year in July-September 2009 to 11.4 billion rubles ($391 million).
The company, established in 2002, said its revenue in the reporting period increased 1.2% to 47.4 billion rubles ($1.6 billion), while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) fell 2.2% to 23.55 billion rubles ($807million), with the EBITDA margin contracting from 51.4% to 49.6%.
MegaFon's gross profit increased 0.8%, year-on-year, in July-September 2009 to 37.84 billion rubles ($1.3 billion).
MegaFon's liabilities stood at 40 billion rubles ($1.4 billion) as of September 30, 2009, the company said.
