RIGA, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - Latvia's parliament on Tuesday adopted a draft state budget for 2010 envisioning a 6.9% deficit in the final reading.
Revenues are planned at 3.782 billion lats (some $7.4 billion) and expenditure at 4.348 billion lats ($8.6 billion)
Finance Minister Einars Repse said the 2010 draft budget was the toughest ever for the Latvian finance system.
Latvia has been hard hit by an economic crisis, with the government considerably slashing the budgets of all state institutions and asking international financial organizations for assistance.
The organizations agreed to grant the republic a 7.5 billion euro ($11.3 billion) loan.
