Russian first half GDP up to 4.2 pct says Russian Statistics Service

The Russian Statistics Service increased its first half 2010 gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 4.2 percent from four percent compared with the same period last year, the service said on Thursday.
The assessment coincided with preliminary estimates by the Economic Development Ministry.
Second quarter GDP was up 5.2 percent on the same period last year according to the service, coinciding with its previous assessment.
On Wednesday, the statistics service said it had adjusted Russia's first quarter GDP to 3.1 percent from 2.9 percent. The revision took place after the reassessment of growth in mining industries to 11.7 percent from 11.5 percent. Processing plants increased production by 13.4 percent from 11.8 percent, and the production of electricity, water and gas went up to nine percent, from 8.5 percent.
