Russia will in the next months simplify the procedure for foreigners to buy shares in strategic sectors of economy, Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
"A procedure regulating expansion of foreign investment exists only for buying shares in strategic sectors of economy. Moreover, the procedure will be simplified in the nearest few months," Putin told heads of leading German companies at a forum in Berlin.
Foreign investment in a non-strategic Russian industry did not need any special permission, he added.
Putin also said that the government had drastically simplified work visa rules to attract highly-qualified foreign specialists to Russia, without any quotas.
