The world's top nickel and palladium producer, Russia's Norilsk Nickel, is negotiating the sale of its Australian nickel-producing company Waterloo, a Norilsk Nickel representative said on Tuesday.
"This asset is now seen as a supporting structure for Thunderbox and Bannockburn gold and ore firms. That is why the company has decided to sell these assets and is currently negotiating it with investment banks. The pool of buyers has already been formed, and the asset may be sold at the start of next year," the official said, without naming the banks.
"I can't name the banks we are negotiating with before we decide on the investment bank, but the list does not include only Australian companies. It is also difficult to name the size of the deal - much will depend on market situation at the time of sale."
