Russia's oil major Rosneft has no claims to Russian-British oil company TNK-BP, Rosneft CEO Eduard Khudaynatov said on Wednesday.

Russia's oil major Rosneft has no claims to Russian-British oil company TNK-BP, Rosneft CEO Eduard Khudaynatov said on Wednesday.

BP's head of Russian business, David Peattie, was earlier reported in a document released by WikiLeaks to have spoken of the possible division of TNK-BP between Rosneft and the country's gas giant, Gazprom.

"We do not have claims to their assets," Khudaynatov said, adding that Rosneft chose BP as the main partner due to its unique experience in developing oil shelf projects.

On January 14, BP signed an agreement with Rosneft on a $16 billion cross-shareholding with Rosneft as part of a global strategic alliance with the Russian state oil giant.

The companies agreed to develop three blocks in Russia's Arctic Ocean, known as East Prinovozemelsk-1, 2 and 3, according to the Russian government website.

In 2006, the companies signed a memorandum to develop the Arctic shelf. However, they have not developed any projects there.

Khudaynatov also said Rosneft and BP could have joint shelf projects in third states.

Rosneft and BP are currently jointly developing the Sakhalin shelf in Russia's Far East.
