The Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ motor alliance is considering opening a vehicle-assembly factory in Russia's Far East, Primorye Governor Sergei Darkin said Monday.
He said a delegation from the alliance was currently in the area to assess the situation on the ground.
"It will study the feasibility of the project's implementation and look at sites where assembly facilities could be set up," Darkin said.
The alliance looks to use existing production manufacturing facilities and infrastructure, he continued, adding that several sites - in the cities of Slanyanka, Arsenyevka, Artyom, Nakhodka, Ussuriisk and Partizansk - had been proposed.
"These include former military vehicle maintenance and defense-industry enterprises," the governor said.
