Russia's most popular search engine Yandex saw first half GAAP net profits rise 27.6 percent year-on-year to 1.945 billion rubles ($70 million), the company said on Thursday.

Adjusted first half net income soared 54.3 percent to 2.346 billion rubles.

First half revenues increased by 61 percent to 8.435 billion rubles, and operating profit by 44 percent to 2.65 billion rubles, Yandex said.

EBITDA rose 49 percent year-on-year to 3.633 billion rubles.

In the second quarter of 2011, Yandex's net profit grew by 11 percent year-on-year to 1.125 billion rubles, adjusted net income by 35 percent to 1.258 billion rubles, revenue by 57 percent to 4.541 billion rubles, adjusted EBITDA by 32 percent to 1.914 billion rubles.

In April-June 2011, the company's share of the Russian search market reached 64.6 percent. The number of advertisers exceeded 144,000, which is 41 percent more than in the second quarter of 2010, and 13 percent up on the first quarter of 2011.

In May, Yandex raised $1.3 billion in an IPO on the U.S. NASDAQ stock exchange.
