Shareholders of Russia's largest airport, Domodedovo International in Moscow, expect to sell the airport and related assets for $5 billion, a banking source said on Friday.

Shareholders of Russia's largest airport, Domodedovo International in Moscow, expect to sell the airport and related assets for $5 billion, a banking source said on Friday.

"They want to get $5 billion. They are consolidating all assets in the deal, including the refueling complex and the on-board meals service company," the source told reporters.

Another source told Prime news agency on Tuesday that Domodedovo had picked Goldman Sachs investment bank as an adviser for the airport's possible sale.

Experts say the Domodedovo owners want to sell the airport to protect their business from possible nationalization, which has been discussed as part of the government's plan to unify the three Moscow airports, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo, in one air hub and gain control over it.

Domodedovo declined to comment on the information.

The banking source also told reporters that shareholders' estimate of Domodedovo was too high.

"They have chosen the highest possible (market) rate for each asset," the source said.

Moscow-based Vnukovo International Airport board chairman Vitaly Vantsev said on Thursday he and his partners were interested in buying Domodedovo but at a price of $3 billion.
