Ukraine will pay Russia $416 per cu m for gas in the first quarter of 2012, $418 in the second and third quarters and $413 in the final quarter, Ukraine's energy company Naftogaz Ukraina said on Friday.

The average figure for the year is $416, which is the sum on which the Ukrainian budget has been calculated.

Ukraine has complained that the figure, resulting from the 2009 gas contract with Russia, is too high, and has demanded a reduction in the contracted volume and price of its gas imports from Moscow.
