The Russian state-run civil nuclear corporation Rosatom may sign an initial agreement with Chinese energy companies to build a commercial fast neutron reactor in China this summer, following recent talks, Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko said on Tuesday.

"We have discussed possible construction of a full-scale [nuclear] fast neutron reactor. This summer the companies [of the two countries] may sign protocols to work out the initial stage [of the project]," Kiriyenko told reporters.

Rosatom and the China Atomic Energy Authority have also signed a long-term cooperation road map covering all bilateral projects in the nuclear energy sphere, he added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a raft of economic agreements during his visit to Beijing on Tuesday.
