Gazprom Board Chairman Buys First Stake in Company for Nearly $1 Mln

The chairman of the Gazprom board of directors has acquired the Russian gas monopoly’s stock for the first time, buying shares worth 29.7 million rubles ($905,000), Gazprom said Wednesday.

MOSCOW, July 31 (RIA Novosti) – The chairman of the Gazprom board of directors has acquired the Russian gas monopoly’s stock for the first time, buying shares worth 29.7 million rubles ($905,000), Gazprom said Wednesday.

Viktor Zubkov, 71, who headed the Russian government in 2007-2008 and worked as first deputy prime minister in 2008-2012, bought 0.000987 percent of Gazprom’s shares on July 24, when the energy giant’s stock was trading at 127.17 rubles ($3.90) a share, bringing the transaction value to 29.7 million rubles.

Zubkov, who has been chairman of Gazprom’s board of directors since 2008, did not previously have a stake in the gas monopoly, Gazprom said.

Gazprom’s shares were trading at 129.05 rubles per share on the Moscow Exchange Wednesday morning.
