The severe frost which hit Moscow this week with temperatures 10 degrees Celsius lower than normal does not threaten the trees, an expert with the local environment protection department said.
Nikolai Shmatkov said most trees in the Russian capital will be unharmed by the recent cold spell. He also said firs and pines endured the frost better than others.
Meteorologists forecast that the temperatures will be warmer on Friday and over the weekend.
