Bears in the Tomsk region have started begging for food at roads this summer. “Bears stand near roads like beggars and tenderhearted drivers throw them food,” chairman of regional nature protection center Konstantin Osadchy said.
Bears who lost their moms when they were cubs head towards places where they can find food most easily. “I’ve seen a video shot there - it features a bear, skinny as a bicycle, sitting near a cabin and eating a loaf of bread,” he added.
Three wild animal attacks on humans were registered in the Tomsk region in 2008, in two of them the people who were attacked died.
