MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - Four people could be trapped under the rubble of a building which collapsed in central Moscow on Wednesday, a spokesman for Moscow's emergency service said.

An old building on Sadovnicheskaya Naberezhnaya partially collapsed during renovation works at about 17:00 Moscow time [13:00 GMT]. The area of the collapsed section is about 50 square meters [538 square feet].

"Four people could be trapped under the rubble," the spokesman told RIA Novosti.

Rescuers have begun to search for survivors at the scene.
