Two killed, 20 injured in traffic accident in Ukraine's Crimea
SIMFEROPOL, July 14 (RIA Novosti) - Two people were killed and 20 injured when a minibus and a car collided head-on in Crimea, southern Ukraine, the press service of the local traffic police department said in a statement on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at approximately 04:00 GMT on the highway linking Crimean cities of Simferopol, Feodosia and Kerch.
"The driver of a Lada car attempted to overtake a truck and drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Mercedes Sprinter minibus," the statement said. "The bus, with 18 people inside, flipped over in the air and landed back on its wheels."
The car driver died immediately, while his passenger succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Two car passengers and the 18 people in the minibus received injuries of varying degrees.
