MAKHACHKALA, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - One person was killed when an explosive device went off early on Friday in the town of Derbent in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, police said.
"There was a blast in a town park in the early hours of Friday. According to preliminary data, one person died," a police spokesman said.
An investigation is underway.
Mayoral elections are due in Derbent on Sunday.
