Five dead in car accident in southwest Siberia

Five people were killed as a VAZ-21012 car collided with a Volvo truck in Russia's Omsk Region in southwest Siberia on Friday, local emergencies officials said Saturday.

NOVOSIBIRSK, October 10 (RIA Novosti) - Five people were killed as a VAZ-21012 car collided with a Volvo truck in Russia's Omsk Region in southwest Siberia on Friday, local emergencies officials said Saturday.

"Five people, including one child, died in the accident," they said, adding that the accident occurred on the 225th kilometer of the federal highway Omsk-Tyumen.

The car, driven by a woman born in 1976, accidentally touched a tractor it was trying to pass and skidded into the oncoming lane.

It was not immediately clear whether the woman survived.
