MOSCOW, September 10 (RIA Novosti)
A special working group to deal with car thefts will be established in the Russian Interior Ministry’s main department for Moscow, the department’s head, Police Maj. Gen. Anatoly Yakunin, said on Monday.
“Forty cars were stolen in the city yesterday. It’s like this almost every day,” Yakunin told the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
He said cars worth a total of 3.2 billion rubles ($100.9 million) were stolen in the Russian capital in the first half of the year. Moscow accounts for nearly 50 percent of all cars stolen in the Central Federal District.
“The working group will deal exclusively with that problem,” Yakunin said.
