A Kiev district court on Thursday gave a student activist a three-year suspended sentence for frying eggs in the Eternal Flame, a WWII monument in the Ukrainian capital.
Anna Sinkova said she was not guilty and the case against her was politically motivated.
Sinkova, an activist with the St. Luke Brotherhood, was arrested last March, when a video of her act was posted on the internet.
The video showing a group of young people cooking on the eternal flame in the Park of Glory to the Soldiers of the Great Patriotic War in Kiev provoked public outcry.
Sinkova was charged with desecrating a grave.
The student said her act was intended to draw attention to the misuse of natural gas while WWII veterans lived in poverty.
