Table-waiting has joined the list of potentially fatal jobs in Russia, after a drunken café patron in Moscow Region killed a steward with a single blow from his beer mug, local police reported on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old customer was acting out of “hooliganistic intent” when he hit the waiter on the head, the police report said, but did not give more details.
The waiter, a Bosnia and Herzegovina citizen whose name was withheld, spent six days in a Russian hospital before dying of his head injury, police said.
Police tracked, detained and charged the offender, the report said, without elaborating. The incident took place in the city of Serpukhov in late September, but was not reported earlier.
