Policemen in Puerto Rico seized a large batch of cocaine that weighed 660 kilograms (1,455 lbs) and was intended to be shipped to the United States, Latin American media agencies reported.
Puerto Rico police said the drugs were discovered on board of a speedy cutter some 50 nautical miles from the port of Salinas in the south of the island.
The total cost of the seized cocaine on a black market is estimated at $16.5 million, but if it was sold on retail in the United States the price would have totaled $66 million.
The drugs were supplied supposedly from Venezuela or Columbia to be later transported to the United States, according to law enforcers.
