The police have detained two youths for collecting nearly 30 lbs (13 kg) of cannabis in a nature reserve in west Siberia's Tomsk region, the regional Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
“The subjects were found to have collected narcotics in the Pershensky nature reserve. Six sacks of grass were confiscated. Nearly 30 lbs (13 kg) of the narcotic substance, cannabis, was found in the sacks” the statement said.
The youths were detained while loading the bags onto a motor boat, a police spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
The youths, who claimed the drugs were for personal use, are being charged with the illegal collection and posession of narcotics. If found guilty, they could face up to 10 years behind bars.
