MOSCOW, January 12 (RIA Novosti) – Moscow police detained early on Saturday a man who attempted to steal an outdoor payment terminal in the north of the Russian capital, a police spokesman said.

The unlucky thief was spotted by police officers while squeezing the dismantled terminal into the trunk of his VAZ-2109 car.

The man attempted to flee the scene in his car and to evade the police pursuit by driving in erratic pattern.

“Police had to opened fire at the fleeing vehicle. As a result, the criminal was detained,” the police official said. “He received a gunshot wound in the arm and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.”

The stolen terminal was recovered from the thief’s vehicle.
