UFA, January 14 (RIA Novosti) - A man who shot at a kindergarten in Russia’s Republic of Bashkiria was killed by return fire in a special police operation on Monday.

The man fired two shotgun shots at a kindergarten in the city of Salavat from his balcony, injuring a nurse with glass shards.

He refused to surrender and his apartment was stormed. He opened fire on the police who tried to arrest him and was killed in return fire.

The cause of the attack was not immediately clear. A criminal investigation has been launched.

The Interior Ministry’s press service has declined to comment on the incident.
